Welding Demo

Bob Sanders graciously opened up his boys shop ( Tool Craft) to allow us to do a demonstration with a Plasma cutter and a wire feed welder. Bob also was able to get his TIG welder operating and had a professional welder friend come in and show us how its suppose to be done.

Jim Riser brought his Plasma cutter up from Tucson. If you want clean cuts and a easy to operate machine this one sure beats using the old torch. One relay nice thing about this type of setup is once you get the cut moving you are not looking at the arc or flame. Its all hidden under the tip of the cutter.

Marty also brought his Millermatic wire feed and gave a demonstration on using it. Very nice machine for welding clean tight welds. It takes some practice but once you get the hang of it they are nice! The flux core wire is great for welding outdoors in the wind. The regular wire with gas, will give almost splatter free welds.

Jim Riser explaining the basics of how to use a plasma cutter. Its very different then the old torch! Plasma leaves clean accurate cuts.

A couple of the guys got to test the plasma cutter out. It takes a knack to get used to but really is a nice machine.

Marty explaining the Wire feed welder. Much cleaner welds then the old arc welder.
The nice thing about these demos is that if you have never tried using a machine the owner is more then willing to let you have a go at it. 3 or 4 guys tried out the wire feed.
The welding demo was a great time, and a chance to meet new faces. Welcome to the group, Woody and Kevin. At the demos you can pick each others brains with thoughts and problems along with helping each other. If you can make any of the Demos it a real good time!

Cya at the next one!!!!!

To top it all off, Bob Sanders invited a professional welder to come and show us how to weld with a TIG welder. This one takes a bit of getting used to.
Larry brought his IC engine that he is making. You wouldn't believe the detail and craftsmanship that has gone into making this. Larry....Keep us posted on how its going. This is just an example of the variety of things we are doing.
